Guide to all AKC Titles:   AKC Titles List

All titles awarded to dogs prior to July 2, 2014 will not be affected by the new programs requirements

IHCUS supports several awards as described below.  Eligibility is retroactive to the inception of the Club.  Application forms may be downloaded from the links listed below and should be completed as instructed and sent to the Awards Committee for consideration.

All awards earned through the year will be presented at the Annual Banquet.

All awards will be listed on the IHCUS website and will include the Registered Name,  Owner(s), Call Name and Breeder(s) when possible, along with the Award earned.

All IHCUS Sponsored awards can be used as a “Suffix” on all personally created pedigrees and advertisements.

Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame was created to recognize those hounds, whether an IHCUS member or not, who have contributed to the breed’s development in the conformation ring or in the performance arena. Those hounds whose contributions are deemed to be of lasting significance to the breed will be recognized through induction into the Hall of Fame.

Inductees into the Hall of Fame would fall into one (or both) of the following categories:

Pioneers of Dog Events – Those trailblazers, whose accomplishments in competition are deemed to have lasting and historical significance.

Prestige Dog Events – Those hounds that have won “Top Awards” at conformation and performance competitions which are deemed to have lasting significance to the breed.

 To be listed in the Hall Of Fame the Ibizan Hound must have accomplished one or more of the following:

  • Best of Breed at the IHCUS National Specialty
  • AKC® Best in Show
  • AKC® Lure Coursing Best in Event at the National LC Event
  • ASFA Best in Field at the International Invitational
  • ASFA Winner of the “Gillette Stake” at the ASFA I.I.
  • Lure Coursing Best In Field (5 or more AKC®, ASFA or combination of both )
  • AKC® or UKC Perfect score in Obedience (Does not include Rally)

   MERIT AWARDS

  • ROM Certificates will be presented to recipients at the Annual Banquet (mailed to those not in attendance)
  • Applicant must provide a completed application with appropriate supporting documentation (i.e. copies of certifications, AKC® reports). Incomplete applications will not be considered until made complete.
  • Sire/Dam must be registered with the AKC®

Register of Merit – Conformation 

Register of Merit – (ROM)

  • Dogs – Produced 7 or more AKC® Conformation Champions of Record
  • Bitches – Produced 5 or more AKC® Conformation Champions of Record

Register of Merit Silver (ROMs)

  • Dogs – Produced 12 or more AKC® Conformation Champions of Record
  • Bitches – Produced 8 or more AKC® Conformation Champions of Record

Register of Merit Gold (ROMg)

  • Dogs – Produced 20 or more AKC® Conformation Champions of Record
  • Bitches – Produced 12 or more AKC® Conformation Champions of Record

Producer of Merit (Field Championship +)

Producer of Merit (POM)

  • Dogs – Produced 7 or more Contributing titled offspring – *At least 4 must be Field Champions of Record
  • Bitches – Produced 5 or more Contributing titled offspring – *At least 3 must be Field Champions of Record

Producer of Merit (POMs)

  • Dogs – Produced 12 or more Contributing titled offspring – *At least 8 must be Field Champions of Record
  • Bitches – Produced 8 or more Contributing titled offspring – *At least 5 must be Field Champions of Record

Producer of Merit (POMg)

  • Dogs – Produced 20 or more Contributing titled offspring – *At least 13 must be Field Champions of Record
  • Bitches – Produced 12 or Contributing titled offspring -– *At least 8 must be Field Champions of Record

*Other Contributing Titles

  • Specified titles listed in the IHCUS “Versatility Program”
  • The “Foundation and the Wildcard” Category’s will not be included

Register of Merit – Dual Champion (ROMDC)

To be eligible for the ROMDC title the Sire or Dam must be an AKC® Dual Champion of Record PLUS have produced the following number of offspring that are also AKC® Registered Dual Champions of Record.• Sires – produced 6 or more Dual Champion offspring
• Dams – produced 4 or more Dual Champion offspring

Contributing titles shall be a combination of any two AKC® Championships:

  • Conformation (CH)
  • Field (FC)
  • Agility (MACH)
  • Obedience (OTCH)
  • Tracking (CT)

Dual Champion certificate for each hound and its offspring must accompany the application. 

Versatility Award

  • The Awards Chairperson does no tracking of animal performance and it is the responsibility of the applying owner to provide a complete application and all appropriate supporting documents – including copies of official title certificates – to the Chairperson.
  • The owner also must track when their animal meets criteria for a specific award level.
  • Applicant must be an owner of the dog/bitch receiving the award.
  • Applicant must be an IHCUS member in good standing with AKC.
  • Eligibility for these awards is retroactive to the inception of the Club.
  • Applicant must provide a completed application with appropriate supporting documentation (i.e. copies of certifications, AKC® reports). Incomplete applications will not be considered until made complete.
  • Application deadlines will coincide with The Third Eye deadlines. Applications received after the quarterly deadline will be held for the next period.
  • You will be asked to provide a photo of your choice for The Third Eye publication, failure to provide will result in announcement of award without the photo.
  • Mail the application and documentation to the current Awards Chairperson. See the current Third Eye or check on the website for current Awards Chairperson information. (https://www.ihcus.org/contacts/committees)

Program Levels & Criteria

  • This program is open to any Ibizan Hound whose owner or co-owner is a current member in good standing with AKC at the time of application.
  • The Versatility Award is designed so that the average Ibizan Hound and owner, with some effort, can earn one. It asks for one title in three different fields and a total of three points for the first level.
  • These awards are designed to award the well rounded Ibizan Hound and Owner.
  • When an animal fulfills the criteria for a specific versatility title level, the owner may submit their Versatility Program Application Form with the supporting documentation.
  • The award will be listed in the next T.E. following the approval of application.
  • The certificate will be mailed soon after the Awards Chair approves the application

AKC Outstanding Sportsmanship  

This award honors those individuals who deserve special recognition that have made a difference in the sport of purebred dogs, embodied the AKC Code of Sportsmanship, and have been an active and valued member of IHCUS (IHCUS policy is that a member cannot be awarded the medallion more than every 5 years).
